TV5’S “Artista Academy” students had a great time in Hongkong. They entertained 3,000 OFWs in a show last Sept. 9 at the Chater Garden. It was their first-ever public, non-studio live show and they impressed the crowd with song-and-dance numbers. The early faves were Chanel Morales of Bacolod City and Brent Manzano of Bulacan with his R&B singing. Ironically, Brent has already been kicked out. It’s good he was still made to join the trip along with the other two eliminated students, Chris Leonardo and Jon Orlando. The Hongkong show serves as the kick-off of the Artista Academy road show that will soon be taken to other cities of the Philippines and even abroad. The students are so glad that they were also able to visit Hongkong Disneyland, another treat from TV5 boss Manny Pangilinan.
The 6th Live Exams Night with Stand Out as theme was held last Saturday. It was Boys vs. Girls. First the boys did a song and dance number as a group, followed by the girls. As expected, judged fave Vin Abrenica emerged the stand out among the boys. For the girls, it’s Chanel Morales, along with Sophie Albert and Malak So.
The girls later acted in a short film helmed by Joel Lamangan, “Takas”, as students who escape from a white slavery syndicate. Chanel, Sophie and Malak were again cited as the stand outs. The boys acted in the short film “Initiation”, helmed by Mac Alejandre, as victims of frat hazing. Benjo Leoncio broke his nose when he was accidentally hit by a paddle on the face, so he had to be taken to a doctor. The judges say they all excel but Aki Blanco is the standout. The Bottom 3 has been changed to Danger 6 and they are Benjo Leoncio (once again), Stefanie Rowe (another perennial nominee for elimination), Alberto Bruno, Malak So, Nicole Estrada and Marvelous Alejo. One of them will be kicked out tonight.
