Cesar Montano On Why Son Diego Loyzaga Is Not Longer Active In Showbiz

CESAR MONTANO’s son, Diego Loyzaga, was being built up by ABS-CBN last year, paired with Kathryn Bernardo in “Mara Clara.” He suddenly dropped out of sight and has since then been replaced by Daniel Padilla. At the presscon of “Biktima”, we asked his dad Cesar as to what happened to him?

“He went back to school,” says Cesar. “He’s at OB Montessori. Yun ang napagkasunduan namin. After high school, he goes to Ateneo to finish college. Saka na lang siya uli mag-showbiz. Ako rin naman, tapos na ko ng engineering before I tried acting. He understood namang it’s best to have a fallback kasi having a father who’s also in showbiz doesn’t guarantee na you’ll also succeed.”

Cesar is enjoying his stint as a host of the “Artista Academy” live exams night. “I enjoy watching the students grow each week and becoming better performers,” he says. “Parang I get to relive my early days in showbiz.”

He’s glad to do his first indie film, “Biktima”, with a gifted director like RD Alba. “I believe in his talent. I hope this will open doors for him not only here but also abroad as he’ll enter ‘Biktima’ to international film festivals.”

There’s a rumor he’s running as Manila vice mayor for Mayor Fred Lim to be up against Isko Moreno? “I’m doing a movie on the early life of Mayor Lim based on the account of National Artist Nick Joaquin, but I have no plans to run for public office this year. I got plenty of invitations to run, pero wala yun sa plano ko. I’m not closing my doors to politics, pero hindi muna ngayon.”
