WE’RE SURPRISED that Andres Vasquez of Manila was eliminated last Sunday from “Protégé: the Battle for the Big Artista Break”. The previous weekend, Andres won best actor in the short films they did. Maricel Soriano and Director Dante Mendoza both singled him out, and now, he’s ousted? We just can’t comprehend what happened. Aside from him, three other protégés were sent home: David John Llanas and Steffi Pacheco of Mindanao and Vien Allen King, also from Manila.
The remaining 14 proteges were earlier paired in two’s. Arny Ross and Zandra Summer did a sexy number ala- “Burlesque” of Cristina Aguilera. Jeric Gonzales and David John Llanas sang an upbeat number while playing the guitar. Elle Ramirez and Japs de Luna did a touching interpretative dance number. The hunky Bryan Benedict and Andres Vasquez aped Channing Tatum in a sexy “Magic Mike” number. Thea Gonzales and Mikoy Morales sang “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry. Ruru Madrid and Shelly Hipolito did an energetic dance number. Steffi Pacheco and Vien Allen King did the Jason Mraz-Colbie Caillat duet, “Lucky”. They all performed well so it’s really a shocker when four of them were eliminated simultaneously. There are now only 10 remaining protégés.
