Jeffrey Quizon Thrilled To Play His Dad Dolphy In Stage Musical 'Katy'

JEFFREY QUIZON gets the most challenging role of his career in the musical “Katy”: he plays his own dad, Dolphy, during the late comedian’s days as a vodavil star with Katy de la Cruz. “I’m now training for the role doing tap dancing,” he says. “Sa January pa ang showing nito, but this early, I’m preparing for it na para hindi ako mapahiya.”

Epi says he and his siblings have moved on since the passing of their dad, Dolphy. “Malungkot pa rin, pero tanggap na namin. Dahil doon, madalas ang bonding namin ngayong magkakapatid. We go on outings, swimming.”

Epi was at the presscon of the tribute concert to Dolphy along with brothers Eric, Dolphy Jr., Vandolph and Ronnie, plus sister Sahlee Quizon. The proceeds from “Dolphy Alay Tawa” will be for the benefit of the Dolphy Aid Para Sa Pinoy Foundation, Inc. to be held on Sept. 19, 7 p.m. at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. The concert promises to entertain the audience and remember Dolphy as Comedy King. Expected to perform are Gov. Vilma Santos, Nora Aunor, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, Sharon Cuneta, Lorna Tolentino, Christopher de Leon, Maricel Soriano, Roderick Paulate, Ai Ai de las Alas, Edu Manzano, Pauleen Luna, Judy Ann Santos, Ryan Agoncillo, Luis Manzano, Vhong Navarro, Shaina Magdayao, Paolo Bediones, Derek Ramsey, Mark Herras, John Estrada, Jolina Magdangal, Ruffa Gutierrez, Richard Gutierrez, Raymond Gutierrez, Ruby Rodriguez, Keempee de Leon, Wendell Ramos, Edgar Allan Guzman, Martin Escudero, Alex Gonzaga, Danita Paner, Jhong Hilario, Arci Muñoz, Ritz Azul, Iya Villania, Denise Laurel, Melai Cantiveros, Eula Caballero, Angeline Quinto, JC de Vera, Rachelle Ann Go at Bulilit Kids, with special participation by Eddie Garcia, Gloria Romero, Rosa Rosal, Eddie Gutierrez, Nova Villa, German Moreno, Daisy Romualdez and Susan Roces.

A General Admission ticket will need P150 minimum donation, P250 for Upper Box and P450 for Lower Box. This is written by Bibeth Orteza with Al Quinn as director.
