Why did the APO disband three years ago? “We’ve been together for 41 years and we want to do other things. Danny (Javier) went into business and now stays in Gen San. Buboy (Garovillo) went into acting and is now doing movies and teleseryes. Ako naman, I continue to sing and write songs. Last year, I released my first solo album, ‘Laro’, with 14 original songs.”
Jim wrote a lot of APO’s hits, like “Batambata”, “Blue Jeans”, “Tuyo ng Damdamin”, “Yakap sa Dilim”. He’s now also into photography, writing (he has three books published “Humming in My Universe”, “Between Blinks” and “Writing on Water”), teaching and also acting (he plays Bea Alonzo’s father in the new soap, “A Beautiful Affair”.) His wife and two kids now live in Sydney while he cultivates here his solo career. “I have a daughter here with me. But come December, pupunta kami sa Sydney for Christmas.”
Jim’s guests in his concert are Yeng Constantino, Noel Cabangon, Ebe Dancel and Jett Pangan, with Ernie Baladjay as musical director and an orchestra accompanying him. Produced by Mauve Management and Entertainment, it’ll also showcase his own photographs and videos shot especially for the concert. He’ll later take it on tour here and abroad.
