What’s the meaning of “Haram”? “In Muslim, it means bawal kasi the story is about forbidden love. Dingdong and I meet in a Muslim wedding and he’s wearing a Muslim costume so I though Muslim din siya. It turns out he’s a Christian soldier na deep penetration agent pala ng militar.”
What did she do to prepare for the role? “First, I read the Koran to refresh myself. Then I colored my hair black and bought new outfits that Muslim women wear, including hajib, yung pang-cover sa face.”
What does her father, Robin Padilla, say about it? “Natutuwa siya. It’s a nice vehicle daw to show Muslim faith and culture.”
Does she feel any pressure? “Mas grabeng pressure when I did ‘The Good Daughter’ kasi first solo ko tapos title role pa. Buti na lang nag-rate.”
What did she do after it ended? “I had a vacation sa mom at mga kapatid ko sa Australia. My sister Queenie now lives there. She’s happy, ayaw ng mag-artista. I also started shooting a movie, ‘Kuratong Baleleng’, directed by my dad.” Is that where she’s paired with Aljur Abrenica? “Yes, I play a female assassin. Kalaban ko sina Aljur at Papa.”
So how’s is she and Aljur now? “We’re okay.” Are they sweet on the set? “How can we be? Laging nakabantay si Papa pag nakita nang magkatabi kami sa upuan. Tigilan na natin si Aljur kasi reunited sila ni Kris Bernal sa ‘Coffee Prince’. So Al-Kris muna ang dapat pag-usapan. Naging fan din naman ako ng love team nila at nagagalit na nga sa’kin yung ibang fans nila.”
Honestly, we feel “Sana Dalawa ang Puso Ko” with her, Aljur and Kris is the better vehicle for them. “Ay, gusto ko rin yon. Sana, yun na lang ang susunod naming project.”
