MARK HERRAS came to the lunch presscon GMA Artist Center hosted for him as he finished taping all his scenes for “Luna Blanca” that same morning. But he’s in a good mood as everyone is praising the great dancing he displayed at the Alay Tawa tribute to the late Dolphy at MOA the night before, including GMA execs who were so impressed by his terpsichorean prowess.
“Bale lagari ako kagabi,” he says. “Two days akong nag-rehearse for Alay Tawa ng Football Mambo. I was so nervous kasi hindi ko naman forte yung ganung sayaw na pang-ballroom. Sasabayan yung sayaw ni Mang Dolphy shown on video. But during the actual performance, nawala yung kaba at grabe ang naging response ng mga tao who kept applauding. Everyone was later congratulating me, pati sina Eric Quizon, Epi, Vandolph and Director Al Quinn. People told me it’s one of the most applauded numbers in the whole show kaya tuwang-tuwa naman ako.”
You’ll see that dance number when the show is aired on all top three channels as a musical special on September 30. Right after his number in MOA, Mark rushed to his taping of “Luna Blanca” in Antipolo to complete all his scenes until 6AM. “Natulog lang ako ng kaunti then punta naman ako dito sa presscon,” he says.
He also considers his role as Joaquin in “Luna Blanca” very challenging. “Kasi for seven years, naging comatose siya. But now, he’s been revived at unti-unting babalik ang memory niya. Ni hindi niya naaalala si Blanca, now played by Heart Evangelista, na kababata niya. And later on, magkakaroon kami ng love triangle with Bianca King as Luna.”
How’s it working with Heart and Blanca? “Okay kaming lahat sa set kasi I’ve working with Heart before in ‘Langit sa Piling Mo’ and with Bianca in ‘My Only Love’ na kontrabida siya sa’min ni Rhian Ramos. Pareho silang magaling kaya masarap kaeksena.”
