Masculados Of Direk Maryo De Los Reyes To Do A Chippendale Stripping Act In Their Zirkoh Concert

DIRECTOR MARYO J. DE LOS REYES is so disappointed that the Regal movie pairing Marian Rivera with Coco Martin has been shelved because Coco backed out. “Ilang beses kaming nag-meeting and we accommodated lahat ng gusto nila sa script,” he says. “But now that the script has been completed at focused na ko sa project, biglang hindi raw puede si Coco kasi he’ll start a new soap and will do more endorsements. Buti na lang, may bago kong project sa GMA-7, ‘Haram’, first time ko to work with Dingdong Dantes and Kylie Padilla. Nag-workshop na ko before taping and they’re both okay. We’re all excited about the project. Kylie is a revelation. I like her, she can deliver.”

But right after we typed this, we got a notice that GMA also decided to shelve “Haram” because of the controversy about the Muslim film being banned by the censors here. That’s a double disappointment for Direk Maryo. It’s good he still has the 10th anniversary project of his wards, the Masculados, to keep him busy.

“It was in 2002 that I put up this all macho male song and dance group and their concert is ‘Masculados: Dekada’ at the Zirkoh Morato on October 15. Coinciding with this is the launch of their 4th album, also called ‘Masculados: Dekada’, with a medley of their past hits like ‘Jumbo Hotdog’ and ‘Lagot Ka’, plus new songs like ‘Di Ko Mapigil’ by Lito Camo, ‘Hawakan Mo Na’, by RJ Jimenez, ‘Super Papa’ by DK Coki and ‘Cam2Cam’ by Edwin Marollano.”

How will their anniversary show be different from their past shows? “It’ll be naughtier. They’ll do a Chippendale number.”

What will they show? “Handa kaming ipakita ang aming kaluluwa,” says Robin Robel.

What are they doing to prepare for the show? “Panay ang workouts namin,” says Enrico Mofar, who owns the Masculados Gym.

“Panay rin ang rehearsals namin to make sure di kami magkakamali,” says Ozu Ong.

“We’re also taking voice and dance lessons,” says Nico Cordova.

“And we have several guests like Sonny Parsons of Hagibis, Kylie Padilla, Bela Padilla, Kim Idol, Osang, Bombshells and original Masculados Omar, Bok and Zoltan who’ll have a reunion with us,” says Orlando Sol.

Have they experienced being sexually harassed by fans? “Ilang beses na kaming nahipuan,” says Lexter Lazaro. “Pero hindi maiiwasan yun, so okay lang. Part yun ng pagpapasaya namin ng tao.”
