Regine Velasquez Got Something Contagious From Her Husband Ogie Alcasid

REGINE VELASQUEZ will not be here when her movie with Aga Muhlach, “Of All the Things”, opens on September 26 as she’s leaving with hubby Ogie Alcasid and their son Nate on September 22 for Singapore. They’ll be meeting there Ogie’s ex, Michelle Van Eimeren and two daughters, Leila and Sara. They’ll all be together like one big happy family for one week.

“We’re all excited,” she says. “First trip abroad kasi ito ni Nate and first time din sila magkikita ng sisters niya.”

Judging from her funny scenes in “Of All The Things”, she has really become a fine comedienne. She has many hilarious scenes, including her casual delivery of such a possible shocking line to Aga like “Pa-canton ka naman.”

“Nakakahawa pala ang comedy. It's contagious. Impluwensiya ng husband ko,” she says.

The film’s director, Joyce Bernal, says: “The first two movies she and Aga did with me, ‘Dahil May Isang Ikaw’ in 1998 and ‘Pangako, Ikaw Lang’ in 2001 are more romantic-dramas, but this one is more of a romantic comedy. Both Aga and Regine play characters who are losers in ‘Of All the Things’. Si Aga, bar flunker na ayaw mag-retake due to a conflict with his own dad, Tommy Abuel. Si Regine naman, fixer sa government offices who’ll do anything to help her family, with Gina Pareno and Ariel Ureta as her parents.”

So what’s the difference between Aga and Regine now than when they did their first two movies more than ten years ago? “Pinapanood ko kay Judy Anne Santos ang mga eksena nila rito sa ‘Of All the Things’ and Juday said matindi pa rin ang chemistry nilang dalawa. Nandun pa rin talaga, e, after all these years. At ang maganda, grabe na ang rapport nila with each other. Hindi mo na tuturuan at alam na agad nila ang gagawin nila for the camera on their own.”

We urge Regine to also try doing a serious drama. “Hindi po kaya ng powers ko. Yung iiyak ako ng iiyak.” Is she still doing the other movie she started, “Mrs. Recto”? “They said anytime I’m ready, itutuloy namin.”

As for Direk Joyce, she’s now doing a new movie for Star Cinema starring Kim Chiu and Xian Lim and is also directing Robin Padilla, Kris Aquino and Anne Curtis in the new soap “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw”.
