FORMER MISS SAIGON actress Carla Guevara gets one of her most demanding assignments ever as Carla Albanese, the neurotic mistress of Director Guido in “Nine”, the Broadway musical that’s one of the most ambitious projects of Bobby Garcia’s Atlantis Productions to start showing at RCBC Plaza Makati on September 21. In the film version, she’s played by Oscar-winner Penelope Cruz.
“I have a love scene with Jett Pangan as Director Guido at pagulong-gulong kami sa floor,” she says. “Problema ko yung husband ko (Godfrey Laforteza, the sous chef of Hotel Mulia in Jakarta) kasi he’ll be here to watch it at baka hindi raw niya makaya.”
Carla is living the peaceful life of a simple housewife abroad. “But I told my husband I need to perform. Buti pumayag siyang umuwi ako rito, pero ayaw niya ng mga love scene for me. Sabi ko, very professional naman si Jett.”
They have 3 kids: 11-year old Bailey, 9-year old Sophie (who Carla says sings very well) and Vittorio, 2. Isn’t she worried that with her husband in Jakarta and she and their kids here in Manila, he might have a second family there? “Naku, subukan lang niya. I told him, kung anong gagawin niya, makakaya ko rin and I can do it even better. Pero pareho kaming pabalik-balik doon at dito. We put up a business here, Busnok, short for Busog na Manok. (We’ve tasted it and it’s really good.) It’s ready to eat roasted chicken stuffed with flavored rice inside. For only P240, buong manok na good for 3 to 4 people. Our store is at Clean Fuel Station on E. Rodriguez Ave. corner Campanilla St. You can order at 0917-3007665. For ‘Nine’, you can get tickets at Atlantis, 892-7078.”
