Gerald Santos Fits The Role Of San Pedro Calungsod Perfectly

SINGER GERALD SANTOS feels honored to be chosen by Teatro Pilipino to play the title role of San Pedro Calungsod, the second Filipino saint canonized at the Vatican on October 21, in the musical based on his life. “San Pedro Calungsod, The Musical” will be staged at the PETA Theatre on November 17 and 29. Aside from this, there’s a film on the life of San Pedro starring JM De Guzman, a docu-drama with Rocco Nacino on GMA-7 and another musical staged at the Meralco Theatre with Makisig Morales in the title role.

A lot of people say that it’s Gerald who fits the role perfectly as he really has a saintly aura, looking so much like a good, clean-cut young man. This is Gerald’s second time to do a play as he has appeared before as Jose Rizal in another musical about our national hero Jose Rizal. He researched on the life of San Pedro Calungsod and he says it’s really very inspiring for people to cultivate their faith and personal relationship with the Lord.

“Mahirap maging banal na santo, lalo sa panahon ngayong maraming tukso,” he says. “But in our little way, we can do good sa ating kapwa, simula sa ating mga magulang at pamilya na dapat nating laging tulungan. Kung may time tayo, we should share what we have with the needy, lalo ngayong ang daming taong naghihirap at nagugutom.”

Gerald is busy promoting his new album “The Prince of Ballad” with four revivals (“Ikaw Lang” by Chad Borja, “Paminsan-Minsan” by Richard Reynoso, “Hindi Magbabago” by Randy Santiago, and the Vehnee Saturno-Ted Ito song, “Maghintay Ka Lamang”) and one original song (“Ikaw Pa Rin ang Mahal Ko” by Ryan Cayabyab that was the theme song of Nora Aunor’s mini-series “Sa Ngalan ng Ina”.)
