Laguna Gov. Er Ejercito Says His 'El Presidente' Is Much Bigger Than Last Year's 'Manila Kingpin'

LAGUNA GOV. ER Ejercito says that if viewers liked his 2011 Metro filmfest entry, “Manila Kingpin”, all the more that they’d appreciate his 2012 entry, “El President, The Life of Pres. Emilio Aguinaldo”, directed by Mark Meily whose past filmfest entries like “Baler” and “Crying Lady” have won many awards.

“’El Presidente’ is a much bigger project kasi historical ito and we spent so much for the period production design and the costumes,” he says. “Aabot sa P100 million ang budget namin, but okay lang as I want my entry this year to surpass the achievements of our entry last year. Sa co-stars ko pa lang, I’m already proud and honored kasi kasama ko sina Nora Aunor, Christopher de Leon and Cesar Montano, plus Cristine Reyes as my first wife. I can say na ten times more beautiful ang ‘El Presidente’ sa ‘Manila Kingpin’ kaya abangan nyo ito sa darating na Pasko.”

He showed the teaser trailer of the movie and it’s quite impressive. As for politics, he has already filed his candidacy for re-election as goernor and he turned 49 years yesterday, October 5, but he didn’t have a big birthday celebration. “Next year na lang,” he says.
