Ricky Davao Says Aljur Abrenica Has Improved A Lot As An Actor In 'Coffee Prince'

RICKY DAVAO is now busy as a director, but he obviously has not forgotten his roots as an actor. He’s directing “Coffee Prince” but he also appeared in it as the father of Kris Bernal. “Sa first episode lang ako,” he says. “I was shown with Tessie Tomas as my wife and we were supporting Kris when she joined a beauty pageant. Pero namatay agad ako roon after I had a heart attack kaya napilitan si Kris na maging breadwinner for our whole family. On stage, they also get me in ‘Sayaw ng mga Senioritas’ ni Joey Reyes. Pero hindi na kaya talaga ng sked ko because of ‘Coffee Prince’ kaya pinalitan ako ni Arnell Ignacio.”

He’s happy to be directing a romantic comedy like “Coffee Prince” after the action drama that was “Makapiling Kang Muli”. “I’m lucky kasi matindi talaga ang chemistry ng tambalan nina Aljur Abrenica at Kris Bernal kaya madaling pakiligin ang viewers sa mga eksena nila. Buti rin at very cooperative si Aljur kaya when we tell him to remove his shirt for the kilig scenes, ginagawa niya agad.
