IT STARTED in blind items: the reports about an actor who has become so delinquent in his work he was eventually eased out of his current show. But for regular viewers of GMA-7’s afternoon, “Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa”, they already know the actor being referred to is Sid Lucero, who started as Jennylyn Mercado’s leading man.
Now, Sid is no longer seen in the show and the things he’s supposed to, like accompanying Jennylyn’s character, Elisa, while she is searching for her missing mom, Glydel Mercado, and sister, Krystal Reyes, have been assigned to the character played by Frank Magalona, who now serves as Jen’s leading man.
Sid is no doubt a very good actor, as attested to by his so many acting awards. But he’s said to be unprofessional, either reporting late on the set or sleeping while at work. He’s attention has reportedly been called several times but he still won’t reform so he was finally given his walking papers.
Sid first gained acclaim as an indie actor, just like Coco Martin. But look where the very hardworking and uncomplaining Coco is now. Sid really neglected himself and even gained some unbecoming weight. Meantime, “Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa”, is now on its last two weeks and continues to rate well even without him.
