“Tuwang-tuwa akong kinuha nila kong nanay rito ng leading lady kasi sa kabila, lola ako ni Empress,” she says.
Tessie is very active these days as she’s also in the movie “This Guy’s in Love with U, Mare”. “Auntie naman ako doon ni Vice Ganda. Maikli lang sana role ko roon pero humaba nang humaba, nagustuhan yata ni Direk Wenn Deramas who started directing with me noon sa ‘Teysi’.”
Her recent show at Resorts world, “Comic Divas’, with Mitch Valdez and Nanette Inventor was such a hit that it’ll have a repeat in Music Museum. “Pero gusto ko, magkaroon uli ng woman’s talk show, kahit once a week lang. Malay mo, bigyan nila ako ng ganung show sa GMA News TV.”
How’s it working with Kris Bernal? “Alam mo, hindi ko siya kilala at first, pero sobrang bait niya. Very dedicated at hardworking. Kahit masama pakiramdam, nagte-taping. At bungisngis. Hindi ko pa nasasabing punchline ko, natatawa na. Enjoy rin ako working with our director, si Ricky Davao, kasi he’s very collaborative at kinokonsulta ka talaga kunsaan ka comfortable.”
Her son Robin Tomas, who designed the costumes for the musical “Nine”, is now making a name for himself in the U.S. “Itong suot ko ngayon is designed by him. Mero din siyang creations niya sa boutiques sa fashion district in New York at sa Bloomingdale’s. His goal is to penetrate the Asian Market and also the UK.”
