Visayan Contestant Bryan Benedict Eliminated From 'Protege' Last Sunday Night

IT’S ELIMINATION time again in “Protege” last Sunday. The theme of the night is Switch and the protégés exchanged partners. Zandra Summer was paired with Mikoy Morales, Ruru Madrid with Thea Tolentino (we like their short film the most, ‘Audition’, done with Yassi Pressman and Joyce Ching as mean girls who make fun of Thea), Japs de Luna and Jeric Gonzales, and Bryan Benedict and Elle Ramirez.

Judge Cherie Gil praised well Visayan contestant Bryan’s dramatic performance with Elle in the short film “Takas”, saying he’s really good as a drama-action star. But come elimination time, Bryan was one of the bottom two. The other was Ruru, who sang an awful version of “Crazy for You”. In the end, it was Bryan who was sent home, along with his mentor, Ricky Davao, who said it’s not the end but just the beginning for Bryan. Bryan took it good-naturedly, smiling all throughout. It was Ruru who kept on crying unabashedly, like he was the one who was ousted.

Next week, the theme will be Request ng Taong-Bayan. The remaining 7 proteges will perform what the public would want them to do. Meantime, on Saturday, October 6, don’t miss the Kapuso promo tour in Davao with Steffi Pacheco and David Llanas.
