ALDEN RICHARDS says his fans told him they continue to watch the rerun of his “One True Love” in the morning. “They’re requesting GMA to give me a new show right away but since wala pa nga po, nagkakasya raw muna sila watching ‘One True Love’ all over again,” he says. “May plano ang GMA to reshoot some scenes para may abangang bago ang fans ng show, like yung ending. Sa original, namatay si Louise de los Reyes. Kung babaguhin, who knows, baka happy ending naman po kami this time, so abangan na lang nila.”
Alden is really one of GMA’s hottest properties now as GMA Artist Center even hosted a special lunch just for him and he gave boxes of Puto Binan to all the writers invited. He has finally bought a new car to replace the second hand Honda car he used before.
“I got a 7-seater Sta. Fe Hyundai that I can use to rest in during tapings. Katas po ito ng mga paghihirap ko. Yung old car ko, I gave it to my dad panghatid sa mga kapatid ko.”
Some people say he’s an overnight success because he zoomed to fame right after being introduced in “Alakdana”. “Hindi naman po. Naghirap po ako. Remember, sumali muna ko sa ibang reality shows like PBB and Starstruck, pero rejected ako. Sumali rin ako sa Ginoong Laguna in 2010 kunsaan nanalo ako. After that, doon pa lang ako nag-audition for ‘Alakdana’ na nakuha nga ako.”
His kababayan, Jeric Gonzales, who won in “Protege” also joined Ginoong Laguna. “Yes, in 2011, last year. I was supposed to transfer the crown the winner in their batch but hindi ako nakarating kasi last taping day namin sa ‘Alakdana’ that night.”
Alden remains very humble and polite despite his success. Senior stars in GMA like him for he never fails to acknowledge them and introduce himself to them first. “To show my respect po them, ako nang nagpapakilala sa sarili ko na bagong actor sa GMA.”
Alden’s next assignment will be playing the young Bong Revilla in “Indio” for next year. He’s also in the two GMA Metro Filmfest entries, “Sosy Problems” with Bianca King and as support to Vic Sotto and Bong Revilla in “Enteng, Agimat at Ako”. He’s about to record his first album for Universal Records, just shot a new endorsement for Intel’s sing to win contest and his life story will be featured in Mel Tiangco’s revival of “Magpakailanman”. “Sana, habang wala akong ginagawa, i-guest din ako as contestant sa ‘Extra Challenge’. Willing ako to do anything na ipagagawa nila sa’kin.”
