Aljur Abrenica's 'Coffee Prince' Will End This Month, He'Ll Have A New Show With Sarah Lahbati

ALJUR ABRENICA doesn’t think the movie he did with Kylie Padilla for her dad, Robin, will adversely affect the ratings of his hit show with Kris Bernal, “Coffee Prince”.

“Movie naman yung ginawa namin ni Kylie at sa TV namang ‘Coffee Prince’, so magkaiba sila,” he says.

Some writers are telling him his younger brother Vin, winner in TV5’s “Artista Academy”, is a better actor than him and he quickly agreed. “Siempre, alangan namang makipagtalo pa ko. Para matapos na lang agad, sige na, kapatid ko naman yun, e. Sinasabi rin nila mas maganda katawan niya sa’kin, mas pogi siya sa’kin, okay na rin. Hindi naman kailangang pagsabungin kami. Bilang kapatid ko siya, I wish him the best. Magkaiba naman kami ng network, e.”

How about the story that their parents have split? “Hindi totoo yun. Nagkaroon sila ng misunderstanding, pero nagkaayos na. Magkakasama nga kaming lahat sa Araneta noong manalo si Vin.”

In “Coffee Prince”, the friendship of Aljur as Arthur and Kris as Andie is getting deeper since they both nurse a broken heart. They’re both jealous of Max Collins as Arlene and Benjamin Alves as Errol. The show’s director, Ricky Davao, attests to the fact that Aljur’s acting has definitely improved for the better. “Lahat ng nagsasabing hindi siya magaling, panoorin nila ang ‘Coffee Prince’ so they can see for themselves how effective he has become,” he says.

“Coffee Prince” will end this month and won’t be extended. According to GMA exec Redgie Acuna Magno, their contract with the Korean company who owns the rights is really for only 7 weeks. “The show is rating but hindi talaga puedeng i-extend pa,” she says. “Ayaw na ng Korea magbigay ng extension. As for Aljur, he'll have a new show where he'll be paired with Sarah Lahbati.”
