CHERIE GIL feels so blessed. Right after being a judge in “Protégé”, GMA-7 quickly gave her another project, “Temptation of Wife”. Her brothers Michael de Mesa and Mark Gil are also in GMA’s “Indio” and “Pahiram ng Sandali”, respectively.
“That’s true, kaya lahat kaming magkakapatid, Kapuso na, including some of my nephews like Ryan, Geoff, Gabby and Sid,” she says.
In “Temptation of Wife”, she plays Stella, the rich mother of Dennis Trillo who makes life miserable for her daughter in law, Marian Rivera as Angeline. “Medyo low key ang pagkakontrabida ko rito kasi after my throat operation in New Year, my doctor said bawal pa kong sumigaw ng sumigaw,” she says.
How’s it working with Marian Rivera? “I’ve worked with almost all the GMA actresses like Carla Abellana, Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe, Glaiza de Castro, Kris Bernal and I’m really thankful to be given the chance to work with their primetime queen, Marian. This is our first time together and I’m so amazed at how good she is. She’s always in character, very consistent, and so easy to work with. Very professional siya and I feel blessed working with big stars like her na hindi nagbibigay ng problema sa set kaya magaan at hindi stressful ang trabaho namin.”
Also a theatre actress, Cherie has accepted another demanding role after doing the musical “Nine” where she played a producer. This time, she will play the role of the randy Mrs. Robinson in the musical version of the classic 1967 Hollywood movie, “The Graduate”, the first big film of Dustin Hoffman. Mrs. Robinson, who seduced Dustin, was originally played by Anne Bancroft. Simon and Garfunkel wrote the hit song “Mrs. Robinson” for the movie, along with “The Sound of Silence”, another hit.
