Director Chito Rono'S 'Shake Rattle & Roll 14' About End Of The World

HOW COME Chito Rono is the lone director of the three episodes of “Shake, Rattle & Roll 14”? “Matagal na ko pinagagawa ni Mother Lily ng movie sa Regal,” he says. “When I saw last year ‘Shake 13’ being promoted as the last one in the franchise, sabi ko, babaliin ko ito. Nang tanungin ako ni Mother kung ano gusto ko gawin, sabi ko, ‘Shake 14’, but I will direct all the episodes. She agreed.”

Chito himself cooked up the story ideas for all the episodes then got 3 top writers for the full script. Ricky Lee did “Pamana” starring Janice de Belen, Herbert Bautista, Empress Schuck and Arlene Muhlach; Roy Iglesias did ‘Unwanted’ with Lovi Poe, Vhong Navarro and Albie Casino; Rody Vera did ‘Lost Command’ with Dennis Trillo, Paolo Avelino, Martin Escudero as the soldiers and Ronnie Lazaro as the leader of the zombies.

“’Pamana’ is the first episode and it’s my tribute to the very first ‘Shake’ movie as I assembled all the original stars from its three episodes, Janice, Herbert and Arlene. It’s set in the 80s and also a homage to horror films of the 50s and 60s. Sa ‘Unwanted’, mag-boyfriend sina Lovi and Vhong. Lovi got pregnant but she doesn’t want the baby. Then something happens to them when they got trapped in a mall na nagkaroon ng big explosion. ‘Lost Command’ is about a group of soldiers who encounter zombies in the mountains. Overall, the theme of the whole movie is about the end of the world as predicted by the Mayan Calenda.”
