Jennifer Lopez Intrigued By Ate Gay'S Billboard Side By Side With Hers At Sm Moa Arena

WHEN J LO performed at the SM Arena last Monday, she was surprised to see her billboard right after that of Ate Gay whose concert, “Ako Naman, Ate Gay”, will be held there tomorrow night, Friday. J Lo asked someone: Who’s that in the billboard?

“She was told that the artist is the Filipino counterpart of Gangnam,” says “Ako Naman” producer Joed Serrano.

So how’s the ticket sales for Ate Gay’s concert? “Nakakatuwa kasi ang unang na-sold out are the more expensive VIP and Patron tickets na P1,590 and P2,120 each. Available pa ang upper and lower boxes and general admission. We expect it na ma-soldout sa mismong day of the concert na. I realized with this concert that audiences now no longer want shows na puro kantahan. They also want comedy for them to laugh and forget their worries.”

How is this different from Ate Gay’s usual comedy bar acts? “Very different. They have to see it from the start kasi you can’t predict where Ate Gay will be coming from. Ibang-iba ang mga konsepto rito ni Mamu Andrew de Real who directs it with Phillip Lazaro. Lahat bago, napakagaling. Buwis buhay ang opening niya. Abangan nyo ang Darna gag niya, the Bailes de Luces with lanterns from Negros and the number with sexy Brazilian boys.”

“Siempre, abangan si Nora Aunor mismo,” says Ate Gay. “Kikilabutan kayo sa gagawin namin. I have a medley of Nora Aunor songs with the company. Tapos I have a segment with Michelle O’Bombshell, John Lapus at yung winner sa international pageant sa Bangkok, Kevin Balot. Meron ding portion with Allan K, Aiza Seguerra, Aegis, Anton Diva, X Factor finalists and SexBomb. Cast of thousands ito at di na kami magkasya sa dressing room.”

Has he patched things up with Vice Ganda? “Hindi naman kami nag-away. Nagkita na kami sa ‘ASAP’ at okay kami. Mabait naman si Vice, he said susuportahan niya ako. Siya ang nagturo sa’kin maging girl. Dati kasi, lagi akong naka-pants at t-shirt lang. Siyang namili ng isusuot ko para magmukha akong girl, pinakita yung legs ko.”

For Valentine, he’ll have James Ingram, Peabo Bryson, Dan Hill and George Benson in one concert on February 8. On March 15, he’ll produce “35 Years of Lea Salonga”, all at SM Arena. He also intends to do a road tour of Ate Gay’s concert in key local cities and possibly, Hongkong and Singapore.
