Scriptwriter Roy Iglesias Has Been Writing Screenplays For Almost 40 Years Now

ROY IGLESIAS was still in his early 20s when now National Artist Eddie Romero asked him to co-write the script of the 1976 landmark film “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon”. For Joel Lamangan, he has written “Hubog”, “Bahid”, “Filipinas” and “Mano Po 6” which won him a best screenplay award. He also wrote the script of last year’s award-winning “Manila Kingpin”.

But the director he has written the most scripts for is Chito Rono, like “Eskapo”, “Babae sa Bintana”, “Dahas”, “Nasaan ang Puso”, “Yamashita: Tiger’s Treasure”, “Spirit Warriors 1 & 2”, “Feng Shui”, “Bulong” and “The Healing”. He now writes for Chito again, the “Unwanted” episode in “Shake, Rattle & Roll 14”. He’s also a creative consultant for GMA-7’s afternoon soaps.

“It’s my first time to write for the ‘Shake’ series and Direk Chito plays with the prediction that the world will end in 2012,” he says. “Lovi Poe and Vhong Navarro are sweethearts who get trapped inside a mall demolished by an explosion. Together with other survivors, they have to fight for their lives as it turns out to be an alien invasion.”
