The biggest controversy was the encounter at the airport of Raymart Santiago and wife Claudine Barretto versus Ramon Tulfo. Claudine was reprimanding a ground attendant for their missing luggage when they saw Tulfo videotaping it and this leads to a violent fracas. Both parties sued each other and Tulfo’s two brothers, Erwin and Raffy, joined the fray on the air, resulting in the suspension of their show, “T3”, for three months.

So many celebrities sued each other in court.

Then there’s sister versus sister when Ara Mina field a case of slander against her younger sister Cristine Reyes for maligning her on Twitter.

Annabelle Rama sued Ynna Asistio so Ynna’s mother Nadia Montenegro sued Annabelle’s son Richard Gutierrez. Annabelle had an altercation with Amalia Fuentes who later sued her for her alleged libellous messages on Twitter and even her daughter Ruffa Gutierrez, plus Bianca Gonzales. Amalia and her son were later stabbed by their tenants so Amalia sued them. But Annabelle kissed and made up with GMA exec Wilma Galvante, who has retired from GMA and moved to TV5.

So many stars fought back against their hecklers and bashers on social media, including Zsa Zsa Padilla, Regine Velasquez, Angelica Panganiban and Lea Salonga. But the most ardent was Sharon Cuneta who answered most of her detractors (especially those of her daughter KC Concepcion) personally. On the bright side, she reconciled with her Tita Helen Gamboa with whom she earlier had a rift.

Estranged couple Andi Eigenmann and Albie Casino met by chance in an affair in a Makati bar. Albie claimed he was mauled by some of Andi’s friends. Later, Andi also had an encounter with another ex-boyfriend, Jake Ejercito (son of ex-Pres. Joseph Estrada and Laarni Enriquez), who revealed in an interview that she’s a two-timer as she went steady with both him and Albie.

Ruffa Gutierrez was enraged by malicious questions and innuendos made to her by her co-hosts in “Paparazzi” and she resigned. The show was eventually cancelled a few weeks later.

Sen. Tito Sotto was accused of plagiarism while he was defending his stand against the RH Bill (which was eventually passed by congress) and he claimed he was victim of cyberbullying. Two other celebrated incidents magnified by social media were the case of Robert Carabuena punching an MMDA traffic enforcer and the Amalayer girl confronting an MRT lady security guard whose footages were posted on youtube.

Baron Geisler was arrested when a neighbor complained against him for being unruly and was jailed 14 hours. In the more recent TV5 MVP ball, co-stars Edgar Allan Guzman and Divine Lee complained against him for misbehaving while under the influence of liquor.

Bea Binene and her mother were sued for libel by their own lawyer, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio.
