The third of Pen Medina’s five kids, he plays Procopio Bonifacio, the younger brother of Andres, in “Supremo” that opens today in SM Cinemas nationwide. In the climax, he was killed first with a gunshot on the head before Alfred Vargas as Bonifacio was repeatedly stabbed by the men of Aguinaldo.
Alex has been doing indie films for sometime but it’s only this year that he got noticed. Aside from “Supremo”, he’s in three other new films: “Palitan”, “Pascalina” and “Mariposa sa Hawla ng Gabi”. He gives a daring performance in his love scenes with Mara Lopez (daughter of Maria Isabel Lopez) in “Palitan”. “Pareho kaming hubad, nagpakita ako ng behind,” he says. “Very erotic ang love scene namin, may pumping at kabayuhan. May threesome pa kami with Mon Confiado.”
So he’s ready to go out all out in front of the camera? “Okay lang. Ako nga nag-request kay Direk na mag-frontal ako. Siyang nagsabi, huwag na lang.”
Alex admits he’s a latebloomer in acting as he’s already 24. “I was in college when the acting bug bit me. Kasi noon, feeling ko, hindi ko kaya dahil mahirap na trabaho. Pero ngayong naranasan ko na, sobrang high at enjoy ako, so I really want to be good as an actor and do good in this profession.”
