“Herbert started with me as a child actor in ‘Oh My Mama’ in 1980, kaya original Regal baby ko yan,” says Mother Lily. “In 1984 naman, he starred in the ‘Manananggal’ episode of the very first ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’ movie and won best actor in the Metro Filmfest. So now, he comes full circle in ‘Shake 14’. I call him the male Vilma Santos because they both take their work in government very seriously. Bilib ako sa kanya kasi he majored in philosophy at San Beda, took up law in New Era, got his masters in public administration from UP and is now working on his doctorate in public administration and governance, also in UP. When I got him for ‘Shake 14’, he thought I was joking, so nagulat siya nang mag-meet na kami with Direk Chito Rono at shooting na. And he proves na he has not lost his touch in acting. He remains to be one of our best comedians ever.”
Herbert, in turns, expressed his thanks to Mother Lily for getting him again. “Dito ko na-realized I really miss acting,” he says. “I welcome working with Direk Chito for the first time and being reunited with Janice de Belen who I worked with noong mga bata pa kami in ‘Flor de Luna’. I’m proud of our episode, ‘Pamana’, about a family, kami nina Janice, who goes to the old house of our dead uncle, a writer, without knowing na ang ipapamana pala niya sa’min, yung monsters at mga multong nilikha niya na nagkaroon ng buhay.”
