Derek saves her again when two men try to rape her in the woods. The third time Derek comes to her rescue is when she is attacked by Lavaman (Wendell Ramos). The irony of it is that when she meets Derek’s true self, Voltaire, they antagonize each other and she calls him “bastos” without knowing he’s also her idol Kidlat. So how’s it working with Derek?
“He’s a big star, so medyo ilang ako noong una,” she says. “But he turned out to have no superstar airs, down to earth, magaan kasama. Everyone likes him sa set. Before we taped, nag-workshop muna kami with other cast members, sina Baron Geisler, Nadine Samonte and Erika Padilla. Na-build up agad ang relationships namin with each other. Derek even asked me, may boyfriend ka na ba? I said, NBSB ako. No boyfriend since birth. Sabi niya, ha? E, paano kung may kissing scene tayo? I said, trabaho ‘to, baka puedeng dayain. Di ako nag-aalala kasi he’s very supportive naman. When I appeared sa FHM, he said hindi niya matingnan yung fotos ko kasi nakilala niya kong sweet. Ayaw raw niyang makitang daring ako.”
Does she regret going sexy in the pictorial? “No naman kasi generally positive ang feedback. I talked about it with TV5 before I did it and they agree na hindi naman bastusin ang dating.”
Is it true she and Eula Caballero have a rivalry and snub each other? “No, nagtataka nga kami why may story na nagdededmahan daw kami. Noong New Year’s Eve, sinadya niya ko sa bahay namin sa Sta. Rita, Pampanga just to give her gift for me, long-sleeved tops and shoes. I was so touched. Hindi talaga kami nag-aaway.”
The TV movie of “Kidlat” was previewed and she watched it with the press. How did she feel while viewing it? “I was so excited, my eyes were glued on screen and I got goose pimples. Ang ganda kasi. I’m really proud to be part of the show. Dream ko talaga noon pa to work with Derek so dream come true ito for me. Perfect birthday gift for me as I turn 19 on January 11.”
