FOR AWARD-winning Director Jeffrey Jeturian, directing Gov. Vilma Santos in “Extra, The Bit Player”, is a dream come true. “I really watch all her films and I’ve always believed in her talent as an actress,” he says.
He just finished Ate Vi’s first shooting day with all the other actors who also play extras in the film and he’s awed by her humility. “Hindi siya nagpapa-star treatment at all. Nang pinapayungan siya sa set, tumanggi siya. She said, ‘Salamat pero huwag na lang. Para naman akong magsasayaw ng singkil niyan.’ She’s also very cooperative kahit anong ipagawa sa kanya to completely deglamorize her at kahit 3 AM ang shooting namin sa Monumento. She mixed so well with the rest of the cast and you’d really think isa lang siya sa mga extra dahil sama-sama lang silang lahat sa loob ng iisang tent.”
Only an actress who feels so confident of her talent like Ate Vi would agree to appear on cam without any make up and look so ordinary. “Extra” is really a movie we’ll eagerly await to watch to see a master at work.
