Jake Cuenca'S Role As Rafael The Most Challenging From Him So Far

WHEN JAKE CUENCA started doing “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan” seven months ago on primetime, he was also in the afternoon show “Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo”. He was taping three days each for both shows and he was always sleep deprived. This went on for about four months until the latter show ended.

“Ang hirap noon,” he says. “Walang pahinga. Wala na kong social life. Puro work lang. Hindi ko na uulitin yun. But I’m thankful na nagawa ko yun at nagpapasalamat din ako dahil ako lang yata ang actor na pinagtiwalaan ng ABS with two regular drama shows airing simultaneously.”

He’s happy to be part of “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan” as he learned a lot while doing this with Direk Wenn Deramas. “Grabeng pinagdaanan ng character ko rito. Naging mabait, sumama, na-obsessed kay Iza Calzado na hindi ko matanggap na ang dad kong si Gabby Concepcion ang pinakasalan, nang-rape, nakulong, namundok at namuhay sa piling ng mga Aeta. Ang daming challenges that I think help me become a better actor.”

The show is now on its last two weeks. What will happen to his character, Rafael? “I don’t know yet. Nagte-taping pa kami, but it’s all very exciting. Ang dami pang mangyayari so I ask our viewers na tutukan nila ito’t wag silang bibitaw.”

He already has a follow project but he’s not allowed yet to reveal what it is. He’s doing two new films, one with Gerald Anderson, an actioner helmed by Tikoy Aguiluz. The other one is with Eugene Domingo and Empress Schuck. He’s also considering doing an indie film, “Amor Y Muerte”, directed by Cesar Evangelista. “This is a Cinemalaya entry at noon ko pa gusto gumawa ng movie rito but I want to read the full script first bago ko tanggapin.”
