ROCCO NACINO was being forced by some writers at GMA’s pocket presscon for him for “Yesterday’s Bride” to admit that he and Sheena Halili became on but he was adamant in declaring there’s no formal commitment between them.
“Talagang hanggang dating lang kami,” he says. “For two years yun. Friends pa rin naman kami. Nagkukumustahan. Doon siya nagbo-boxing sa Elorde Gym in Ortigas that I co-own with some associates. Kasama iba pang GMA stars.”
Some folks say their relationship soured after he became enamoured with Lovi Poe while taping “Yesterday’s Bride”. “Unfair for Lovi to be accused of something like that. Friends din lang kami. Naging close kami because of ‘Yesterday’s Bride’. Kaya lang, alam nyo naman sa showbiz, pag pinagpareha kayo’t naging close kayo, iisipin agad, kayo na nga. We’re not closing our doors. Kung mangyayari yan, it happens. But as of now, pareho kaming work ang priority. I’ve just finished a new movie, ‘I Love You, Pare Ko’, where I play a gay in love with Rodjun Cruz, directed by Buboy Tan. Showing na ito sa February 6.”
Isn’t he afraid of being typecast in gay roles since his “Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” is also a gay flick? “No, last ko na ito. But ibang klaseng gay ako rito kaysa sa ‘Sayaw’, which is why I accepted it. May twist sa gay character ko rito na hindi ko puedeng i-reveal. It’s very interesting.”
