Music Icon Ryan Cayabyab Impressed By 'Kanta Pilipinas' Contestants

THE PILOT episode of “Kanta Pilipinas” last Saturday got very positive feedback from viewers and advertisers alike. The Kapatid Network’s first original singing reality search saw the first batch of hopefuls rocking the stage to win the approval of judges Mr. Ryan Cayabyab, Ms. Lani Misalucha, host Rico Blanco and composer extraordinaire Mr. Vehnee Saturno. Mr. C majority of the finalists are really impressive and can have careers of their own.

Among the first six who impressed viewers and judges alike were: Fil-Am singer Timmy, who stayed in the country to take care of his grandmother; Fil-Spanish Thara who proved that she’s not just another pretty face; 17-year old Janeth who impressed Lani by giving justice to “Out Here On My Own”; and 5az1 (Herbert, Rex, John, Bryan and Mick) who left the audience swooning with their good looks and great vocal harmony. Contestant Gian Carlo also inspired viewers as he didn’t let his illness (Stage 2 Brain Cancer) hold him back from the competition. Lastly, the singing siblings Nicole and Carlo brought “freshness” to the music industry, putting their own spin to going acoustic that will make their dad Mon David proud.

The competition gets hotter as the battle continues this Saturday night. Don’t miss the second batch of Kanta Pilipinas finalists as they perform the songs of their lives. Who among Adrian, Allan, Dea, Haizel, Isaiah and Zari will pass the judges’ exacting standards to get to the next stage? Find out tonight at 9:00. Next Saturday features Sylvester Stallone in “The Expendables”, its Philippine premiere on free TV. More Filipinos have begun to appreciate watching Hollywood blockbusters seen on TV5 every day.
