WE TOLD Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano at the presscon of “ASAP 18th Anniversary” that even after 30 years, no one can claim to have replaced them as the country’s top male singers, not even the likes of Jed Madela, Erik Santos or Christian Bautista who are with them in the show. What’s nice about them is that they’re never threatened by the introduction of newcomers and even help them as the show’s main hosts. We asked the new singers who work with them in the show what they have learned from working with the veterans like Martin, Gary and Zsa Zsa Padilla.
“I was intimidated when I joined ASAP,” says X Factor winner KZ Tandingan. “But they’re all very nice and made me feel welcome. When I have doubts, they encourage me, saying kaya mo yan. With my ASAP Family, I learned to love my craft even more. I really grew as an artist.”
“I learned discipline,” says Juris who joined ASAP Sessionistas in 2008. “You have to study your songs well as part of a team.”
“ASAP helped me gain a lot of friends in the show and gain more footing in the industry,” says Princess who joined the show in 2009. “Mas nakilala ko as a singer dahil nakakasama ko silang kumanta.”
“Working with them after I joined Pilipinas Got Talent taught me to be more professional,” says Khalil Ramos. “It’s an honor and a privilege for me to be able to perform with them.”
The “ASAP” special 18th anniversary presentation will be held this noontime on ABS-CBN.
