YENG CONSTATINO, first winner of “Pinoy Dream Academy”, used to be evasive when asked about her lovelife. But at the launch of her 5th album, “Metamorphosis”, she says she’s ready to have a boyfriend this year. “After all, I’m 24, independent na ko from my parents, so puede na,” she says. “Excited na nga ako. Kaya lang, wala pang lumalapit. Alangan namang ako pang manligaw.”
Nine of the ten songs in her new album were composed by her and many of them are love songs. How come she can write them when she hasn’t had a BF yet? “Hindi naman porke di pa nagka-boyfriend, ibig sabihin di pa nai-in love. The carrier single of my album is ‘B.A.B.A.Y.’ It’s about someone na naging very close sa’kin, lumalabas kami, kuwentuhan, tapos bigla na lang nawala, di man lang nagbabay.”
Is it a boy or a girl? “Lalaki po. Hindi po ako tomboy. The song says ang dali-dali namang magsabi ng babay, tapos di man lang siya nagpaalam. Ang sakit, di ba?”
How come she’s the only in her batch who really made it? “I don’t want to compare myself to others kasi I’m also sad na wala na yung mga kasabayan ko rito. But I guess I owe it all to the Lord, sobrang blessed po ako na I’m still here sa industry. Dream ko talaga to perform on stage at yun ang biggest change sa buhay ko since I won. Yung napagbigyan yung dream ko na yun, more than all the financial improvements na nangyari sa’min ng family ko.”
Why is her album titled “Metamorphosis”? “Coz I really feel I’m transformed here. I’m more mature, the songs have an edgier sound. I just hope my fans are ready for the new Yeng.”
Produced by her idol Raimund Marasigan, the other songs in the album Yeng herself wrote are “Hahanapin Kita,” “Josephine,” “Messiah,” “Pasensya Na,” “Sana ‘Di Pa Huli,” "Teleserye,” "Pag-ibig,” and “Sandata,” with Jed Dumawal as guest writer for the song “Chinito”. It’s all record bars nationwide for only P299. The digital track of "B.A.B.A.Y" can now be downloaded via www.mymusicstore.com.ph and iTunes.
