JOSE AND WALLY did it again. They filled up the Big Dome for the second time last Friday night. Even the farthest bleachers were full of people who came to be entertained by their funny antics. The opening number is easily the best for us as it set the merry and hilarious mood of the evening. This is an upbeat dance version of “Pusong Bato” and Wally really made “hataw” along with their back up dancers while Jose easily ran out of breath.
The first guest was child wonder Ryzza Mae Dizon (who also opened the concert with her video spiel shown on a giant screen) and she really brought the house down with her signature cha cha number. At seven years old, she already instinctively knows what will click with the audience, even in her exchange of repartees with Jose and Wally. The crowd roars with laughter each time her skirt falls down. Ryzza is “bentang-benta” even with our 4-year old apo, Victoria Jane, with whom we watched the show. After Ryzza, our apo’s interest somewhat waned with Jose and Wally appearing in drag with Dingdong Dantes, spoofing movies like “One More Try”, “No Other Woman” and “A Secret Affair” on pre-recorded video footage.
The stage came alive again only when Dingdong appeared live singing “Huling El Bimbo”. Our apo likes him so much in “Tiktik” so she enjoyed seeing him in person. The Ogie Alcasid segment with him impersonating other singers along with Jose & Wally (they did Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, The Supremes, among others) wasn’t that big a hit with the audience, but Pokwang was a showstopper when she got a cute looking guy from the audience and did a risqué number with whom, plus a medley of songs with Jose and Wally with words that have double meaning.
Since the second concert is a big hit, we have no doubt it’ll now be an annual pre-Lenten tradition every March to herald in the coming of the summer season.
