Lexi Fernandez had a Pajama Party on her 18th Birthday

LEXI FERNANDEZ turned 18 on January 5. Instead of having the usual big debut, she just hosted a pajama party for close relatives and non-showbiz friends. “It’s my choice to have it intimate instead of yung grand debut na sobra dami ng guests but di mo naman maasikaso lahat,” she says.

So has her mom, Maritoni Fernandez, given her more freedom now that she’s 18? “My mom naman has never been too controlling at all. She allows me to go on gimmicks as long as tapos na studies at work ko. She trusts me well enough.”
She’s about to finish high school. “I want to take up communication arts or filmmaking. Kasi, nandito na ako sa business na ito, di ituloy ko na lang para magamit ko rin.”

She’s in the new GMA soap, “Ang Kakambal ni Eliana”. “My last soap was ‘Magdalena’, na mabait ang role ko. But in ‘Eliana’, I’m contravida again like my role in ‘Nita Negrita’ na bad girl talaga.”

Doesn’t she mind playing villain roles? “Not at all. This time, more mature na ang atake ko sa role. Hindi na kontrabidang pa-tweetums. I’m really happy with my career. At least, hindi ako nababakante. I was also in GMA Films’ ‘The Road’, ‘Just One Summer’ and ‘Sosy Problems’. Sunod-sunod nga work kaya after ‘Magdalena’, I went to Australia to visit my dad and stepmom in Adelaide. I had a great time relaxing at the beautiful beaches there.”
