WE MET Christian Bautista’s girlfriend, Carla Dunareanu, in person at the presscon of “The Bride and the Lover” where she plays the mutual best friend of Lovi Poe and Jennylyn Mercado.
“When they fight over Paulo Avelino, I didn’t take sides with any of them,” she says.
She met Christian on the set of the Singaporean TV show he did, “The Kitchen Musical”, which was shown in 11 countries. She’s of Romanian-Chinese ancestry. “I have no Filipino blood,” she says. “It’s my dad who’s Romanian and my mom is Chinese, but now, I’m learning Tagalog because I love it here and I want to try local showbusiness.”
Her dad passed when she was still a baby in Germany and her mom then moved to Australia where they lived with an aunt. “Before, I only speak Chinese and German, but in Australia, I learned how to speak English. I was 8 years old when we moved to Singapore, where I started my career in showbiz. When I came to Manila, I just wanted to have a vacation and be with Christian. But now, I love it here kasi mababait lahat ng mga tao rito.”
Magic 89.9 FM gave her a radio show, ‘On Demand’, Monday to Thursday, 9 AM to 12 noon. She also sings and wants to have an album someday. Christian is very supportive of her.
“At first, nag-react siya when I did a stage play and had a kissing scene. But I told him it’s required in my career and I don’t object when he does kissing scenes in his music videos, so no selos na lang. We don’t meddle na lang in each other’s career.”
Do they plan to tie the knot soon? “No. I’m just starting my career here. Definitely no wedding plans yet.”
