Jake Cuenca And Rumored Gf Lovi Poe Are Rivals Over One Man In 'Lihis'

JAKE CUENCA is, hands down, our busiest actor today. He’s now doing Joel Lamangan’s “Lihis” with rumored girlfriend Lovi Poe and Joem Bascon. Aside from this, he’s also in Viva’s “Nagalit ang Buwan sa Haba ng Gabi” with Cristine Reyes and Andi Eigenmann, “Tuhog” with Eugene Domingo and Empress Schuck, the Cinemalaya entry “Nuwebe” where he plays a young dad who sires a child with his own 9-year old daughter and the ABS-CBN remake of the Mexicanovela “Maria Mercedes” with Jessy Mendiola in the title role. Does he still have time to rest?

“Actually, I just came back from Spain where I visited my parents kaya fully recharged na ako,” he says.

Did he have second thoughts doing “Lihis” where he’ll have hot gay love scenes with Joem? “None, as I really wanted to work with Direk Joel Lamangan. When I was still with GMA-7, I took an acting workshop with him and I consider him one of his mentors, but I’ve never worked with him so I grabbed the chance to be directed by him now in ‘Lihis’. And with Ricky Lee having written a beautiful script, there’s no way I’d let this project pass me by. In the story, I’m the more aggressive partner sa’min ni Joem. Straight acting kami pareho pero ako, bumibigay with some feminine ways but I have to hide them kasi that time, bawal na bawal ang homosexuality lalo na sa NPA movement where we belong.”

His role is obviously an acting piece. Will it give him another acting award? “Hindi ko iniisip yun. Our concern is just do our best to please Direk Joel at para mapaganda ang movie. If we’d win awards later, bonus na lang yun.”
