Lorna Tolentino Doesn't Mind Being Third Choice To Nora Aunor & Hilda Koronel In 'Burgos'

LORNA TOLENTINO knows she’s not the first choice to play Mrs. Editha Burgos in the film based on the wife of the late newspaperman Joe Burgos’ search for their missing son, Jonas. The film was first offered to Nora Aunor then Hilda Koronel, both of whom were not available. But she’s flattered when Mrs. Burgos herself said that she’s glad Lorna will play her on screen as she admires the actress and her work very much. “We’re both wives, now widows, and we have the same moral values about our families,” adds Mrs. Burgos. “Masuwerte kong siyang napili para gumanap bilang ako. Pinanood ko siya sa ‘Pahiram ng Sandali’.”

“I’m also happy na ako ang final choice as Mrs.Burgos,” says LT. “After I read the script, naiyak ako. Gandang-ganda ko sa pagkakasulat dito ni Ricky Lee and curious na ako how Direk Joel Lamangan will make it all real on screen. Madramang-madrama ito, lalo na yung scenes na hinahanap na nila ang nawawalang si Jonas. Up to now, after six years, hindi pa rin siya nawawalan ng pag-asa at kasama na nila ko sa pagdarasal na sana, makonsensiya yung mga dumukot sa kanya at maibalik pa nila si Jonas.”

She has worked with Direk Joel before in the TV soap “Liwanag ng Hatinggabi” on GMA-7 in 1999 and has done two films with him, “Pusong Mamon” and “Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di”. “Yung films namin before, more of comedy. First time naming magkasama in a heavy drama like ‘Burgos’. I’m really optimistic na maganda ang resulta nito dahil makakatulong pa kami sa mga desparecidos.”

Her youngest son, Renz Fernandez, is said to have broken up with Maxene Magalona last month after six months of being together. What can she say about this? “Naku, sila na lang mismo ang tanungin nyo about that. Ayokong makialam sa lovelife ng anak ko. But I like Maxene. It’s sad if things didn’t work for them.”
