CONG. JACK ENRILE is profuse with his thanks to Sen. Jinggoy Estrada for hosting lunch for him to meet select members of the press. He said they’re really like brothers and Sen. Jinggoy confirms this, saying he considers Cong. Jack’s dad, Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, also as a dad and mentor.
We asked Sen. Jinggoy how come he’s not hosting a presscon for his own brother, JV. He doesn’t answer but only gives a cryptic smile. Someone later told us that he did offer help to JV.
“May pinagawa na siyang storyboard for an ad na binayaran na niya, kumpleto na, but JV rejected it and told him he has his own media plan,” says our source. “He felt na being the more seasoned politician between them, he’s in a position to offer a lot of help in JV’s senatorial bid, pero dahil tinanggihan siya, tumigil na siya.”
About Cong. Jack, he knows he’s currently in the eye of the storm as many issues are being raised against him. “There’s a demolition job against me but the issues they raise, puro lumang tugtugin na,” he adds. “Nasagot na lahat yan at na-clear na ng korte years ago. Ang nangyari, it backfired on them kasi mas lalo akong tumaas sa surveys.”
His chief advocacy is putting food on the table of Filipino households. “Sapat ba ang kinakain ng bawat pamilya sa araw-araw? Studies show that up to 24% of our kababayans experience hunger everyday, that’s around 21 million Filipinos na hindi nakakakain ng tama. Dito sa atin, 55% of our take home pay goes to food for the family. We should also give more support to our agricultural sector and invest more in agriculture for food production.”
Cong. Jack might look like a tough guy but he says he’s really a softie at heart. “Mababaw ang luha ko, lalo na pagdating sa pamilya ko who’s my inspiration.”
He says he admires Bea Alonzo a lot but the most beautiful woman in the world for him remains to be his wife, Sally Santiago. He’s also a doting dad to their two kids, Sarah and Sam, and his grandson, Matteo, making him a truly devoted family man.
