“Sa past soaps ko like ‘Nita Negrita’ and ‘Paroa’, lagi na lang akong inaapi, iyak ako nang iyak,” she says. “So for a change, gusto ko naman ipakitang I can do other kind of roles at hindi puro pa-cute or pa-sweet lang. I want to be known as someone who’s versatile. Pero hindi naman kontrabida ang role ko rito. Ginawa lang babaeng bakla, very bubbly, masayahin. Sina Krystal at Joyce, drama nang drama. Ako naman, nagpapatawa kasi lumaki ako with Maureen Larrazabal na dating nagtatrabaho sa club. With Gina Alajar as our director, I know playing this kind of role will help hone me better as an actress.”
Barbie is also the featured actress every Saturday in “Maynila” for the whole month of June and she’ll be paired with different leading men in each episode. Fans of her love team with Joshua Dionisio are requesting that they be reunited in one episode, but there are unconfirmed reports that Joshua is now with ABS-CBN. In “Anna Karenina”, she’s paired with Derrick Monasterio.
