AT THE PRESSCON of “Cassandra: Warrior Angel” that starts airing tonight on TV5 after “Aksyon”, three matinee idols of the 80s stand together on stage: Eric Quizon (who’s one of the show’s directors), William Martinez and Gabby Concepcion. It’s definitely a blast from the past and writers present say it’s obvious that it’s Gabby who’s the most well preserved among them.
Eric has gained weight (because he eats a lot when stressed during tapings) and William obviously suffered from the stroke he had a couple of years ago. In contrast, Gabby, who’s turning 50 years old on November 5, remains trim, healthy and youthful looking with his boyish charms still intact. No wonder he even agreed to bare his torso in his costume as a fallen angel in “Cassandra”.
So what’s his secret? “No secret,” he says. “I just watch what I eat and I exercise regularly.”
Someone said it’s having so many women in his life. We all know he has a daughter each with Sharon Cuneta, Grace Ibuna and Jenny Siquia, plus two daughters more with his current wife, Genevieve. He also had relationships with beauty queens Anjanette Abayari and Dindi Gallardo. Someone says he has no sons, only daughters, “bilang pambayad utang sa pagiging chickboy niya”.
“Hindi naman. Good boy ako. Never akong may pinagsabay-sabay sa kanila.”
In “Cassandra”, he plays dual roles as Uriel and Azrael, twin angels from heaven who become fallen angels disgraced by God. Uriel continues to be good and sides with God while Azrael joins with evil forces to become a “maligno”. “It’s a very challenging role. Natutuwa rin ako as I get to do a lot of action scenes. It’s also my first time to work with the two Eulas, Valdes and Caballero, at saludo ako sa kanila, pareho silang magaling.”
