Jennylyn Mercado Turns 26, Find Out What Her Birthday Wish At A Time She's Losing All Her Shows

JENNYLYN MERCADO turned 26 last Wednesday, May 15, and we visited her on the set of “Indio”. Her leading man, Sen. Bong Revilla, gifted her with a whole lechon baka. The cast and staff prepared a feast for her, capped with the presentation of a chocolate birthday cake while everyone’s singing the birthday song for her.

This is truly a nice gesture after a show she’s been hosting, “Hot TV”, was axed two weeks, simply because it didn’t click with viewers. Honestly, after watching a few episodes of it, we got bored and we wondered why “Showbiz Central” was cancelled to give way to it. As we expected, it didn’t last very long. John Lapus must now be having the last laugh.

The second show of Jen to be axed is “Party Pilipinas”. And two weeks from now, the primetime show “Indio”, where she plays Esperanza, the love interest of Bong, will have its final episode on May 31. So that means she won’t have a single show anymore.

But knowing GMA-7, they’ll surely include Jen in the new show that will replace “Party Pilipinas” since she’s one of the few real singers in their stable.

“Positive ang attitude ko with shows that end kasi lahat naman ng shows, natatapos,” says Jen. “Eto nga, I’ve already been informed that I’ll be hosting a new show reality show, ‘Anak Ko ‘Yan’, a talent show for kids and their moms. Meron din daw new soap for me and a new film in the works. Pero siempre, sad akong matatapos na ang ‘Indio’ kasi we started taping in September and it’s been airing since October, so 8 months din kami sa ere. Close na kaming lahat dito and now, magkakahiwa-hiwalay na kami so I’ll miss everyone.”

What’s her birthday wish? “Sana lang, magtuloy-tuloy ang magandang takbo ng career ko. At maging healthy kaming lahat ng family ko, especially my mom na nagkakaedad na, and my son Jazz who’s going na to school this June sa Benedictine Abbey in Quezon City. Abangan nyo pala, in June, ako uli ang cover ng FHM. My third time with them at mas daring na this time kasi magtu-two piece ako. Ang concept ng pictorial is 60s and ang peg ko is the French sex kitten, Brigitte Bardot. Naiiba siya.”
