AFTER PLAYING a short role in “Indio” as the first sweetheart of Bong Revilla who was killed by Michael de Mesa, Maxene Magalona is glad to play a full length role in GMA-7’s new soap, “Mga Basang Sisiw”. This will replace Kylie Padilla’s “Unforgettable” that ends this afternoon. Max will be playing a villain role for the first time, oppressing kiddie stars Renz Valerio, Bianca Umali, Kimberly Faye, Hershey Garcia and Miko Zarsadias.
“I welcome this role kasi before, lagi na lang ako ang inaaping character sa soap,” she says. “It’s going to be a new challenge for me. But it’ll be shown naman why my character, Vicky Sta. Maria, is behaving that way, cold and cruel. May pinanggagalingan yung pang-aapi ko so people will also sympathize with me when they understand why I’m acting that way. May hinanakit kasi ako sa father ko.”
There’s a rumor she had a fight in a bar with Bela Padilla, the current GF of her ex, Neil Arce. “It’s really not true. Bela had already denied it. We’re not really close but I appreciate it na she even twitted right away na hindi totoo ang tsismis na yun. Antagal na nung sa’min ni Neil so tigilan na yan.”
Yes, after Neil, she even went steady with Renz Fernandez and now, they’ve also broken up. “We were together for eight months. We tried our best to save it but if you’re no longer happy, there’s no reason to hold on to it pa, di ba? There’s no third party involved. Marami lang kaming mga bagay na hindi mapagkasunduan. But we parted as friends, walang samaan ng loob. Maayos kami and we had a good closure.”
“Mga Basang Sisiw” also stars Lani Mercado, Raymond Bagatsing, Gardo Versoza, Mike Tan and Caridad Sanchez, directed by Ricky Davao. “It’s my first time to be directed by Direk Ricky and he’s really an actor’s director. Nakakatuwa siya as he’s very open to suggestion. I can ask him kung puede bang ganito o ganoon ang gawin kong acting sa isang eksena. Enjoy kaming lahat sa set dahil magaan siyang katrabaho.”
