RYZA CENON is the cover of FHM’s May edition. Why did she finally agree to pose sexy for the girlie mag? “It’s only now that I felt that I’m ready: physically, mentally and emotionally,” she says at the lunch pocket presscon GMA Artist Center hosted for her. “Ngayon lang kasi nagdalaga yung katawan ko, late bloomer. Before kasi, kulang rin ako ng self confidence. E, now, I feel na mas mature na ko and I’m prepared to show another side of me. Hindi na yung gaya ng dati na teeny bopper lang ako. Now, I’m also ready to tackle more mature roles and daring themes. Also, sabi nila sa FHM, kapag di pa ko pumayag ngayon, they won’t ask me again kasi seven years na nila kong nililigawan to pose for them.”
Is this a career move meant to give her career more push? “Parang ganun na nga. Hindi naman ako puedeng pa-cute na lang forever, di ba? I also have to grow as an actress.”
What’s the reaction of her family? “I grew up with my lola at siempre, siya yung una kong tinanong is for her reaction. Sabi niya agad, Sige. Go. After gawin yung pictorial, tanong ng tanong kung lumabas na at bibili raw siya. Ang mom ko, baby pa ko when she passed and my dad naman has a new family. Lahat sila, even my friends, very supportive naman sa’kin. At saka, hindi ko naman ikakahiya ang pictorial ko dahil hindi naman malaswang lumabas. I think it’s tasteful and classy naman.”
Before, she rejected doing an indie film requiring her to go sexy. How about this time? “I think mapag-uusapan naman yan. Basta hindi sobra, like yung frontal, di ko naman kaya yun. At ang importante, maganda yung material, hindi basta for the sake of hubaran lang. Also, I want to make sure na okay yung director na makakatrabaho ko.”
She’s tagged as Pambansang Guest Star as she has had no regular show lately but just keeps on guesting in various GMA-7 shows. “Oo nga, e. My last guesting was in ‘Indio’ at halimaw pa ang role ko. I hope mabigyan naman ako ng regular role next time.”
She broke up with her dancer BF of six years. So how’s her lovelife now? “Nothing, zero. Natsitsismis nga akong tomboy, di ba? But hindi ko priority mag-lovelife uli, sa boy man o sa girl. I’m just enjoying being single.”
