ANDREA TORRES plays her second starring role in the morning soap “With a Smile”, whose airing was postponed to Monday, June 24 before “Unexpected You”. She’s glad GMA-7 gave her a followup show right after “Sana ay Ikaw na Nga” because she is helping in her family’s finances, especially in the upkeep of her younger brother who’s a special child afflicted with down syndrome.
“He’s turning 17 next month and I want to give him a special birthday celebration,” she says. “I want to take him out kasi lagi lang siyang nasa bahay. He serves as my inspiration para magpursigi ako sa buhay, not only him but my entire family inspires me. Kaya when the press asks me about love, lagi kong sinasabi it’s not a priority for me. Gusto ko munang makapag-ipon for my family so I can get a lot na makakapagsama-sama kaming lahat in one compound kasi, as of now, hiwa-hiwalay kami.”
She likes her role in “With a Smile” as Isay. “This is so much simpler than ‘Sana’ where I played a dual role na isang bida at isang kontrabida. Dito, Isay is a simple barrio girl na expert sa pagluluto ng barbecue na siyang hanapbuhay niya for her family. Nagbago ang life niya when she joins a cooking contest in Manila. Doon niya makikilala ang dalawang leading men niya, Christian Bautista as Aston, a self made man who owns a carwash, and Mikael Daez, anak-mayaman na happy go lucky.”
She’s wearing an outfit with a low neckline at the presscon of “With a Smile” and some writers said she must have undergone a breast augmentation procedure. “Ay hindi. Natural yan. Lagi nga akong binibigo ni Mikael Daez tungkol diyan. Di ko makakayang magpa-opera para palakihin lang yan. Magastos na, masakit pa.”
Is she ready to pose for FHM like other GMA stars lately? “Hindi ko kaya. Baka laitin ako ng iba. If ever, gusto ko, paghandaan ko muna. Magkaroon muna ako ng abs.”
So who's the better leading man: Christian or Mikael? "Pareho ko silang kasundo. But siempre, mas sanay na ako kay Mikael kasi nagkatrabaho na kami before. Dati na niya kong inaasar. Si Christian, you'd think seryoso siya, but he can also be makulit. Enjoy ako working with both of them."
