WONDER WHAT Daiana Menezes is trying to prove. When she and husband Rep. Benjo Benaldo guested in “The Buzz” last Sunday, she denied that she’s a battered wife, which was what people thought when she posted on the net such quotes as
“No to rape," “Real men don't use Violence” and “There is no excuse for abuse.”
She even showed then a picture of her wounded arm. She quickly gained a lot of sympathizers who expressed their willingness to help her. Even her parents in Brazil rushed to Manila just to be with her.
But on TV, Daiana said in effect that she’s just KSP (Kulang sa Pansin) and was seeking the attention of her husband who’s so busy with work and politics. She said she regrets posting what she did which put her husband in a bad light. She added that they do have misunderstandings, like other married couples, but it never resulted into violence.
Asked what she learned from what happened, she replied: “You have to be careful of what you say because it’s up to the interpretation of whoever’s seeing it, especially because they don’t know you very well.”
We thought that settled everything, but after “The Buzz”, Daiana posted another cryptic message in her Instagram account. She declared: “Read between the lines and expressions ng tao sa harap ng camera plus it’s edited from 40 minutes of a talk. We get to see on TV only 4 min. Good enough to save my man’s ass and sacrifice mine (see? I said it. clear na).”
So does that mean what she said on TV are all just lies? The plot thickens. As the saying goes, when there’s smoke, there’s fire. We obviously has not heard the end of this.
