DEREK RAMSAY is so busy these days. On TV, he’s taping almost every day for TV5’s actionserye, “Undercover”, where, as the title implies, he plays an undercover agent named Roy Velasco. He is paired with two leading ladies, Jasmine Curtis Smith (he has previously worked with Jasmine’s Ate Anne in two films) and Arci Munoz, and supported by Phillip Salvador, Wendell Ramos, Joross Gamboa and Alvin Anson.
Then he’ll also start working on two new movies. First is Director Tikoy Aguiluz’ entry in the FDCP Sineng Pambansa Filmfest in September, “Eman”, based on the true to life story of the late poet-activist Emmanuel Lacaba (brother of screenwriter Pete Lacaba). His leading lady is Mylene Dizon. Second is the sex-drama “My Trophy Wife” for Viva Entertainment, to be directed by the comebacking Elwood Perez, pairing him with Heart Evangelista and Cristine Reyes. He’s also currently nominated as Actor of the Year in the Yahoo OMG Awards.
But his primary concern now is “Undercover” which is slated to start airing on Monday, 7:30 PM, after Eula Caballero’s “Cassandra: Warrior Princess” and before Ritz Azul’s “Misibis Bay”. “TV5 is beefing up its primetime programming and we hope that with this trio of well produced shows, we’ll be able to get the attention of primetime viewers,” he says. “Mas mahirap pa itong ‘Undercover’ kaysa sa ginawa ko sa ‘Kidlat’. Doon, naka-costume ako as a superhero. Now, I'm a law enforcer, mala-James Bond. Talagang action-packed itong ‘Undercover’, hindi telefantasya lang, but action-suspense with me doing all the stunts and difficult action sequences myself. I promise the viewers they will be hooked from start to finish of each episode. Lately, nawala ang action pictures sa movies, di ba? Now, all those who missed it, they can watch it 'Undercover' as TV5 really wants to bring back the action genre sa consciousness ng viewing public.”
