Hiro Peralta On Why He Changed His Family Name And Dropped Magalona

HIRO PERALTA started in Kuya Germs’ “Walang Tulugan Master Showman” using the name Hiro Magalona, but now that he’s given a big break as one of the leading men in “Anna Karenina”, he has chosen to change his family name. We heard Pia Magalona asked him to change it as he’s not really a member of their family and there are already too many Magalonas, and he obliged. We hope his new surname will bring him good luck so his career would really prosper this time.

“Parang my career is being relaunched with this new family name,” he says. “Just like Kim Komatsu na naging Rodriguez when launched in ‘Kakambal ni Eliana’. E, ako, first time ko rin to be one of the leads in ‘Anna Karenina’ kaya sabi ng GMA, okay na rin to change my surname. Para magkaroon na rin ako ng sarili kong identity. Also, Peralta is my real family name. Ang Magalona is my mom’s surname kasi second cousin siya ni late Francis Magalona. Yung Hiro is from my real name, Hirojene.”

The 18-year old Hiro is a balikbayan from Seattle, Washington when he joined “Walang Tulugan” and later became a part of “Tween Hearts”. He’s now paired with Joyce Ching in “Anna Karenina”. It’s common knowledge Joyce is going steady with Kristoffer Martin.

“It’s not a problem naman kasi si Kristoffer pang tumawag sa’kin para alagaan ko raw si Joyce. Pero noong una, naiilang ako kay Joyce, although nagkasama na kami sa ‘Tween Hearts’, kasi nga alam kong sila ni Kris. But she was the one who told na walang mangyayari sa’min kung maiilang ako so I became more comfortable.”

He admits he tried to woo Kim Rodriguez when they were in “Tween Hearts” and in “Biritera”. “But it’s nothing serious. Nakakatuwa nga kasi sila naman ngayon ni Kris ang magkasama sa ‘Eliana’. Parang nag-switch kami.”
