JULIE ANNE SAN JOSE will get her 4th platinum album today in “Sunday All Stars (SAS)”. “I never thought aabot na maging quadruple platinum ang debut album ko,” she says. “Kaya ngayon, GMA Records has asked me to start recording my second album. Excited na nga ako as it’ll be an album of all original songs.”
She was also asked to take acting workshops. “Bibigyan daw ako ng soap this year, so aarte na uli ako.”
Despite her busy sked, she hasn’t neglected her studies. She’s now a communication arts junior at Angelicum College. “Desidido talaga akong makakuha ng college degree kaya kahit nahihirapan ako, tinutuloy kong pag-aaral ko.”
She has just renewed her contract as the image model of Get Laud. Owners Darren and Gigi Laudencia say their sales really perked up when Japs (Julie Anne’s nickname) became their celebrity endorser. They just started as a kiosk in Alabang Town Center in 2003. Now, Get Laud has 22 boutiques nationwide, a truly Filipino-owned fashion brand. Japs says she really uses Get Laud apparel for her shows.
“Kasi they’re trendy, puedeng casual chic but elegant, offers stylish comfort and very affordable. It’s so me. I tell my fans to get the Get Laud Privilege Card that gives them fabulous discounts and awesome freebies at hindi ako mapapahiya sa kanila.”
She belongs to the group of Jennylyn Mercado in “SAS”. What will be their presentation this noontime? “May theme na ‘I Do I Do’, kasi June ngayon, maraming June Bride, so parang about weddings. Maraming surprises. Sobrang sipag ni Ate Jenn as our leader. Ngayon pa nga lang, pine-prepare na rin niya yung numbers para sa susunod na Sunday. We all give our ideas, suggestions to make sure may participation kaming lahat from conceptualization pa lang.”
It’s said they won last Sunday simply because she has a huge fan base and it’s her fans’ text votes that made them win. “Marami rin namang fans yung ibang artista, a. So di ako naniniwalang dahil lang sa fans kaya nanalo kami. I want to believe we really did our best in our production numbers kaya maraming bumoto sa amin.”
We notice her ka-love team in “Party Pilipinas”, Elmo Magalona, is no longer part of “SAS”. “Hindi na nga. I think decision ng management yun, but I don’t know what their reason is.”
Doesn’t she miss him? “Hindi naman. Okay lang. Pero baka yung mga fans na nasanay na nakikita kami noong together every Sunday, nami-miss yung tambalan namin. Pero ganun naman talaga sa showbiz. Kahit may mawala, kailangang the show must go on.”
