Alma was the country’s representative in the Miss International contest in Japan in 1994, where she’s one of the finalists and was named Miss Friendship. Charlene Gonzales was her batchmate in the Bb. Pilipinas that year. She was quickly introduced by Regal Films in “Massacre Files” in 1994 and in 1995, she was nominated as best supporting actress for her role as Christopher de Leon’s beauty queen mistress in “Sa Ngalan ng Pag-ibig”. She did several other films like “Goodbye America”, “Manananggal in the City”, “Tag-init”, “Best Friends” then she fell in love and gave birth to a baby boy, Coby, now 13 years old.
“I gained so much weight noong pregnancy ko. I became 200 lbs. It took four years before I was able to regain my original weight. Then I tried theatre acting and also did some TV roles. I also went back to college. I’m graduating this year sa UP, taking up interior design. On TV, the last show I did is ‘Pintada’ sa ABS-CBN. I’m glad ‘Babagwa’ is my comeback movie kasi napapanahon siya, lalo ngayong maraming nanloloko sa social media. It warns you na mag-ingat sa Facebook friends ninyo. In my case, my role has a very big twist in it sa ending na ikagugulat ng audience. Excited din ako rito as this is my first Cinemalaya movie. Aside from this, I finished another movie, ‘Kaleidoscope World’. So sana, magtuloy-tuloy na ito.”
