Jake Cuenca On Being Paired With Eugene Domingo For The First Time

JAKE CUENCA is busy doing one movie after another. He is in the unique drama “Tuhog” of Skylight Films playing the husband of Eugene Domingo. Also in the can are the Cinemalaya entry, “Nuwebe”, and the gay love story, “Lihis”, where he and Joem Bascon play lovers whose love affair is shattered when Lovi Poe gets into the picture to seduce Joem. And he’s now shooting “Nagalit ang Buwan sa Haba ng Gabi” with Cristine Reyes and Andi Eigenmann. On TV, he is one of the leading men of Jessy Mendiola in “Maria Mercedes”, directed by Chito Rono.

“I guess I’m really blessed at hindi ako nababakante,” he says. “Excited ako sa ‘Tuhog’ kasi first time ko makapareha si Eugene Domingo. We play husband and wife. Driver ako ng bus at siya yung konduktora. Pero hindi ito comedy like the usual movies associated with her. This is more of drama. As husband and wife, may kissing scene and love scene kami. I enjoyed shooting my scenes with her kasi napakanatural niya. Walang pilit o trying hard na eksena, even our intimate scenes as a married couple. Maganda rin kasi ang treatment ng aming director, si Veronica Velasco. Talagang makaka-relate ang viewer sa mga sitwasyon namin sa ‘Tuhog’.”

Uge is older than him in real life. Would he really fall for someone older? “Oo naman. Why not? Lalo na gaya ni Eugene, very intriguing at maganda ang personality niya. And if you meet the right person, hindi na kinukuwestiyon ang edad.”
